W. Douglas Banks is the Organizer and the Lead Pastor of the Destiny Christian Church (DCC), located in city of Philadelphia. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, he received his License to Preach and was ordained at his home church, the prestigious Mount Olivet Baptist Church, where Doctor Charles E. Booth, serves as pastor.
After graduating from the top academic high school in the Columbus public school system, Bishop-Designate Banks went on to matriculate the campus of the Ohio State University, where he was awarded a Bachelors Degree of Arts in the area of Sociology. He has matriculated at the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and will pursue a Doctor of Ministry degree at the United Theological Seminary commencing in January 2010.
The Lord has truly blessed and anointed this man of God to minister to those who are hurting and in need of restoration and renewal. To this end, he is a highly sought after evangelist, preacher, and seminar leader around the country, crossing all denominational lines, and served churches in the New York City, Washington D.C, and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
Bishop-Designate Banks’ vision has revitalized the spiritual climate of the congregation and community of DCC and, and his focus on ministry over maintenance has caused birthed this ministry of providence, following a Spirit driven, purpose fulfilling model. It is his dream to see thousands in the Greater Philadelphia vicinity to discover, develop, and display their God given destiny.
His anointing and leadership in the larger ecclesiastical community has been well respected by his peers and elders who chose him as Moderator of the Willow Grove Ministerial Alliance, which is an ecumenical fellowship of ten churches, consisting of over 2000 members. He now has the honor of being designated as the Jurisdictional Bishop of the Northeastern churches belonging to Church Alive Ministries International (CAMI) and will be consecrated in 2010. Bishop Donald James Washington is the International Presiding Prelate of this fellowship whose tri-fold mission is Restoring the Logos, Reaffirming the Leader, and Reaching the Lost.
A product of the Hip Hop generation, his efforts to bring the gospel to today’s youth and young adults has been recognized and showcased nationally on Black Entertainment Television (BET) production entitled “A Chosen Generation” presented by RapCity. A 7th generation descendant of Thomas Jefferson, he has also, had the honor of being the featured guest of both the Oprah Winfrey show and BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley to speak about his family’s heritage.
His partner in life and ministry is the love of his life, Lady Erica Marie and his greatest joy is being the father of his two sons William Douglas, II (DJ) and Joseph Edward Aubrey. They all live together in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
Above all else he is saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. Truly, he is one who has been blood-Bought, God-Called, and Spirit-Filled.
